Wilderness First Aid with CPR/AED
Learn the skills required for medical emergencies you may encounter in the backcountry. This class will teach you the first aid you will need when you are miles away from outside help and you may be the only trained scouter who could save a life. Wilderness First Aid training provides the next level training needed to safely conduct any high adventure backcountry activity where EMS is not available.
Participants will learn how to assess, treat, and contain emergencies within the scope of their training. Youth and adult Scout leaders over age 14 are invited to participate and earn their certification
BSA Wilderness First Aid is required for all high adventure camps such as Philmont, Sea Base, and Northern Tier
Curriculum is certified through The ECSI (Emergency Care & Safety Institute) and certification is valid for two years from the class date.
Time:
This is a 16-hour course held over 2 days. It combines classroom lecture and skills practice to teach assessment, basic and advanced first aid techniques, emergency transport and evacuations. Some scenarios may be outdoors.
Prerequisites:
Participants must be at least 14 years old and hold current certification in adult first aid, CPR and AED.
Fee:
The $150.00 fee for this course includes book, classroom instruction, skills check, and certification card.
